Description: This Collector-sized fossil fish mural features a 21" Phareodus encaustus, a 16-3/4" Diplomystus dentatus, and a large 7-3/4" Knightia eocaena. The mural also contains a partially exposed Diplomystus dentatus (center left). This stone was quarried from our "Fossil Lake" layer, with unique colors and textures.

This irregularly shaped fossil mural presents an array of beautifully preserved, 50 million year old fossil fish. The fossils include a rare 21" Phareosus encaustus, the ancient predator of the lake, a 16-3/4" Diplomystus dentatus, and a giant 7-3/4" Knightia eocaena. Knightia are rarely found over 7". The stone is from our "Fossil Lake" stone layer, and features unique colors and textures, including golden markings caused by iron-oxides in the limestone. Quarried from our private quarry in Southwestern Wyoming, part of the Green River Formation. The age of the fossils is 50 million years old.
The mural is finished with beveled edges and is backed in wood with a built-in French cleat. This mural ships in a custom-made wood crate, fully insured against loss or damage. It arrives ready for immediate installation.
