This large vertical Gallery-sized fossil fish mural was quarried from a rare dark limestone layer unique to our quarry called “Mosaic Lake II”. The fossils found in this layer are exceptional in preservation quality and detail. The stone also offers unique gray and tan colors with bold textures. The fossils in this mural include a large 21" Phareodus encaustus, a 20" Diplomysuts dentatus, an 8" Priscacara serrata, a 5-1/2" Cockerellites liops, and two Knightia eocaena measuring 6" and 7". The mural is supplied framed in a hand-made Wenge wood frame, backed in wood with a two-part French cleat on the back. The age of the fossils is 50 million years old, Early Eocene. The stone was unearthed from our private quarry located in the Green River Formation of southwestern Wyoming.
