This large, irregularly shaped fossil mural was quarried from a dark limestone layer unique to our quarry. We call this stone "Mosaic Lake II." Mosaic Lake II is our premier fossil layer known for exceptional fossil preservation, bold textures, and a range of tan and gray colors. The fossils include Diplomystus dentatus, Priscacara serrata, Cockerellites liops, and Knightia eocaena. They come from our private quarry in Southwestern Wyoming, part of the Green River Formation. The age is approximately 50 million years old, Early Eocene.
The mural is backed in wood with finished beveled edges. We have added a two-part French cleat to the back for easy hanging.
Our murals ship in custom-made wood crates and are fully insured against loss or damage.
