This framed fossil mural features one of the rarest fossils in the Green River Formation, a 47" Masillosteus janei (short nose gar). The gar has an extremely short and robust jaw containing flat crushing teeth, unlike other fossil and living gar which have sharp pointed teeth. The age of the fossil is Early Eocene, 50 million years old. At 47" long it is also among the largest ever found. The gar sits in a highly textured limestone matrix. The mural is framed in a handmade Wenge wood frame, backed in wood with a two-part French cleat. It arrives ready to hang.

This fossil mural ships in a custom-made wood crate, fully insured against loss or damage.
