This beautifully detailed fossil palm leaf is exquisitely preserved within a richly textured and boldly colored stone matrix. This 50 million-year-old fossil palm frond dates to the Early Eocene Era. The palm leaf exhibits an unusual crystalline structure, which may have come from natural salts within the stone during fossilization. Exceptional plant specimens are among the rarest finds from the Green River Formation, and this example is spectacular. This fossil palm leaf was discovered in our fossil quarry in southwest Wyoming.
